Working with Students and Staff to Create Access Solutions
The Center for Accessible Technology has provided services to Bay Area school districts for over twenty years. We focus on computer based Assistive Technology to ensure that children with disabilities can succeed in school and have equal access to education.
Our staff consists of Special Education Teachers, Occupational Therapists
and Speech and Language Professionals who have many years of experience
working with children with disabilities. We provide services for children
with a wide range of disabilities and medical conditions including:

We are particularly well known for our ability to work with children with multiple disabilities (for example, children who have low vision and mobility disabilities).
Services
The Center provides direct service with students, training with teachers and aides and consultation with the IEP team on Assistive Technology. Services include:
- Assessments and evaluations
- Training or technical assistance for students or, when appropriate, the student’s family
- Training or technical assistance for professionals, teachers and aides
- Advice and recommendations on purchasing Assistive Technology hardware and software
- Selecting, adapting, and customizing Assistive Technology devices
- Coordinating other therapies, interventions or services with Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology Equipment
We have access to a wide range of hardware and software
that makes computers useable by children with disabilities. Hardware includes
alternate mice and keyboards; screen enlargers and notetakers. Software
solutions include word prediction software, talking computer software,
and voice recognition programs.
